PANCHKULA, May 14: A ban has been imposed on selling of contaminated sweets and other uncovered eatables by the Deputy Commissioner Saroj Siwach. The instructions have been issued to prevent a breakout of cholera in the district.

Sale of products prepared from contaminated water has also been banned. The DC has also ordered that nobody can produce ice cream, ice-candy, sodawater and carbonated water without getting the water tested from government laboratory.

All the shopkeepers in the district have been issued instructions that all the eatables, meant for sale, should not be left in the open and kept covered in a glass showcase. To implement the order concerned district officers and employees have been given special powers to inspect eatables at any shop, house or place where these are being produced or are being sold. Also the officers are empowered to take action and destroy the eatables if found to be unhygienic.

Saroj Siwach has also alerted health officials including the Civil Surgeon, District Health Officer and officers in the Health Department.
