A live bomb was on Saturday found from a grassy patch near the Lanka Vijay Hanuman temple, close to the Surat-Amroli Bridge, taking the total number of explosive devices found from the city to 25 in the last fortnight.

Bombs were first found on July 27, a day after serials blasts rocked Ahmedabad. The wrapping of the new bomb was, however, different from the ones found earlier.

The bridge was closed to traffic for over half an hour after the police were alerted about the bomb by a caller. DCP V Chandrasekhar led a contingent which cordoned off the area, before Suman Chaudhury of the Bomb Disposal Squad defused the explosive.

8220;We have found a bomb from Katargam area. It is similar to the ones that were found earlier. We have defused it,8221; said Deputy Commissioner of Police V Chandrasekhar. 8220;The bomb squad opened the packet and defused it.8221;

Devotees throng this temple in large numbers on Saturday.

As many as 24 bombs were found in and around Varacha area of the city in the last fortnight. All the bombs were later defused. Two cars laden with explosives were also found in Surat.

The only relief for the administration was that none of those bombs exploded, probably due to faulty integrated circuit chips.

The police are working hard to find a clue to who planted the bombs in Surat but have not been successful so far in their quest.
