While Luanda, the capital of Angola may not be familiar for many, a study has revealed that it is the most expensive city for expatriates in the world.

The study released on Tuesday also showed that London has overtaken Tokyo as one of the world8217;s most expensive cities for expatriates.

While Tokyo slipped out of the top 10 due to the declining yen and low inflation, London climbed from 17th to 10th on this year8217;s list.

The annual survey, conducted by human resources organisation ECA International found that Luanda, the Angolan capital, was the most expensive city for expatriates, followed by Oslo and Moscow.

The survey studied 125 economic factors, including the cost of luxury goods, meals in restaurants, electrical goods, clothing and groceries in more than 250 cities.

According to Mercer Human Resource Consulting, in 2006 Mumbai occupied the 68th position followed by Delhi 73rd, Chennai 137th and Bangalore 139th.

This year8217;s figures for the Indian cities were not available.
