Anand exits

Third seed Chetan Anand crashed out to Ajay Jayram in the pre-quarter finals of the Pramod Mahajan Senior National Ranking tournament 13-21, 24-26 in a major upset today, and top seed Anup Sridhar nearly shared the same fate before making his way into the last eight. Sridhar was up against Maharashtra’s Sagar Chopda, and he had a few anxious moments before closing out a hard-fought 21-16, 19-21, 21-15 victory. Women’s second seed Trupti Murgunde reached the quarter finals with a 21-13, 21-4 win over Neha Pandit. In another men’s match, P Kashyap defeated Abhinn Shyam Gupta 23-21, 21-16.
