  • How does a walk around the Himalayan rivers sound? Great? Well, Abhiyan, a Mumbai based organisation, has arranged one. Children are welcome and so are their parents. From May 15 to 31, 1998. For more details contact: 205 7031.
  • The International Earth Day falls on April 22. Max Mueller Bhavan, in collaboration with World Wild Fund for Nature and Media Matters, has organised a workshop, titled Reduce, Reuse and Recycle8217;, on April 21, 1998. Children from eight to 14 years of age can participate.
  • The workshop is a three hour programme that will deal with environmental issues through a play performance, a film, games and a debate. The programme is aimed at discussing the concept of comsumerism leading to convinced thinking towards reducing needs, reusing available resources and whatever possible to recycle waste.

  • If you love to watch the sky, here8217;s something exciting. The Marathi Vidnyan Parishad has arranged a sky watching camp at Vidnyan Bhavan, V N Purav Marg, Sion-Chunabhatti. Watchyour city8217;s sky from April 12 and 19, 1998, between 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm, and the sky outside Mumbai on April 25. Call 522 4714/6268 if you wish to know more.
  • But if you like the rocks and the wild more than the sky, Jigyasa has organised an adventure camp at Manali and Dharmasala, in Himachal Pradesh. The 14-day camp is open for children above 13 years of age. It has been sponsored by a Himachal Pradesh government organisation 8212; Himachal Pradesh Mountaineering and Allied Sports.   • But if you are below 13, don8217;t lose heart. Yuyutsu has organised adventure camps from April 12 to 18, 1998 for children between eight and 16 years of age at Talegaon near Pune. Yuyutsu provides an amazing range of activities 8212; you can climb rocks, trek, swim, cross rivers, simply camp, watch nature, undergo commando training and indulge in rafting. Parents need not panic. All this is being organised under the guidance of experienced campers.   • Want to know what a soldier8217;s training is like? If you are a secondary or higher secondary student you can. Jungal Prashikshan Sanstha has organised a training camp at three venues.

  • So you are the kind who likes to spend your summer in a much more quiet but creative way. Here8217;s some good news. V V Godkar will hold drawing and painting classesat Chabildas Boy8217;s School from April 12 to 17, 1998. The classes will be held on weekends. Called Draw And Colour Your Creations8217;, it is a special short course by Godkar8217;s Art Academy.
  • You can choose from any of the two batches 8212; 8.00 am to 10.00 am and 10.00 am to 12.00 noon.

    Students will be taught simple sketching, drawing, painting, charcoal painting, ink painting, composition, animal and figure painting, art and craft, making greeting cards and collage.   • ORT India, an associated body of World ORT Union, has two exciting activities this summer for children from three to 12 years of age. They are called Camp Fun and Kid8217;s Corner Computer Camp. Beginning by late April, it will include themes like imaginative thinking, personality development and more. ORT has also arranged a week long camp in Matheran, forchildren and families. This camp is aimed at bringing children closer to nature.
  • Activities like rock painting, tie and dye, making vases out of used bottles, feeling nature without seeing it have also been arranged.

  • Raell Padamsee has organised summer workshops called Breakfree8217;. Children from three to 14 years of age can enroll. All those who enroll get an opportunity to join a special database for TV / films/ music videos and theatre. Programmes aimed at personality development besides workshops on dance, music, acting, craft and communication skills have also been organised.
