Trust Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to think out of the box. The BJP vice-president, who recently went to Yale as part of a delegation of Indian MPs for a leadership programme, is strengthening his base in Rampur from where he may contest in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. At Yale, Naqvi met some professional campaign managers who left him mighty impressed. The BJP leader is set to implement some of their ideas in his constituency and elsewhere. For instance, apart from distributing cards among party workers in his constituency designating them as 8220;district commanders8221; and such fancy titles, he8217;ll distribute coloured bands among them 8220;to foster a team spirit8221;. While he may have picked some of these ideas during his US visit, it was under the late Pramod Mahajan that Naqvi learnt the art of election and booth management.
