MUMBAI, February 4: Fifteen-year-old Alok Singh has been on a roll this year. A National record in the double trap and skeet in the Mavalankar competition followed by another National record in the 25 metres rapid fire pistol for junior men is an achievement anyone would be proud of. But for international Vivek Singh8217;s brother, it must have been just another day.

On the concluding day of the 42nd National shooting championships international rules, at the JNR range, Alok, a class 10 student on a scholarship from Indian Airlines, fired a 512 in the civilian junior men category to better Anshumali Dviwedi8217;s 1998 record of 482 set in Delhi, and then left the venue to do what most teenagers would 8212; roam the city.

There was more excitement in the rapid fire pistol civilian open category, as Ronak Pandit coasted to another gold by default.

Three-time champion Sumeet Sanghvi of Tamil Nadu was forced to claim the maximum two malfunctions, and was pushed to the fifth position.
