AHMEDABAD, MAY 11: Even as the Ahmedabad police is still clueless about the mysterious disappearance of city-based industrialist Mahesh Vora who went missing in Himmatnagar last month, another young industrialist, Narendra Patel, from Shahibaug has been reported missing.

Narendra, who owns a yarn factory, Pavan Spinners, at Kailash estate in Memco, disappeared on Saturday evening while driving back from Mehsana in his Maruti car GJ-1-PP-8555. He had gone to Devda village in Mehsana district to attend a wedding. The car has also not been found.

Narendra8217;s father Kantilal Patel said that around 10.05 pm, Narendra8217;s uncle spoke to him on the mobile telephone to fix the time for a visit to Godhra the next day. Narendra, who is 21, told him that he was at Indira Bridge, on the outskirts of the city, which is hardly a 10-minute drive from his residence, Kedar Apartments in Shahibaugh.

But when Narendra neither reached home nor called back, Kantilal tried to contact him on the telephone around 10.30. Kantilal said Narendra8217;s phone was on, but no one spoke to him. Instead, he heard sounds of Narendra being beaten up and some people asking for his residential address in Hindi.

Soon, the phone was switched off. Kantilal said he dialled the number several times, but the instrument remained off. Later, he reported the matter to the police. A state-wide alert has been sounded for Narendra and his car.

Senior Police Inspector M P Vaghela said that the family hadn8217;t named anyone as a suspect. The police has questioned three persons who were involved in a loot three years ago at a courier firm in Ankleshwar, which was owned by Narendra8217;s father, but has found no clue.

Meanwhile, Mahesh Vora, owner of a ceramic factory at Himmatnagar, remains untraced 17 days after he disappeared. His son Atit Vora said they initially received some blank telephone calls, but these stopped after a few days. No one had contacted them for ransom, he said.
