MUMBAI, AUG 18: Air-India put a sequence of three draws and the defeat to Bank of India behind them, as they won their concluding tie to top the table with 18 points in the Gulf Oil WIFA Super Division Football League. Today at the Cooperage, they scored through Godfred Pereira and Herbert Philips in the second half.

HR Commerce ambushed Acharya Marathe 7-0 in the second round of the inter-college football tournament at the Mumbai Schools ground, Azad Maidan, today. Avinash Shetty, Abhishek Joshi, Kris Gomes, Ambrish Adhikari Imran Chaiwala 2 and Juneed Ansari scored. Dominic Pereira scored off a pass by Santosh Athikari to give BEST the lead in the second-half. Trevor Nunes was responsible for the second goal. Earlier in the evening, Mukesh Solanki scored the match-winner for Adarsh against Larsen and Toubro in Pool A.

Suvarna for Bangladesh

The Asian Football Confederation AFC has appointed Madhav Suvarna as the referees inspector for the Second Banglabandu International Football Tournament to be played in Bangladesh from August 27-September 7.

Teams from Brazil, Ghana, Hungary, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, India South Korea, and Thailand are participating in the event.
