NEW DELHI, July 22: All India Institute of Medical Science AIIMS is instituting an inquiry into all transactions conducted within the past few months, when Dr R.C. Anand was the hospital8217;s medical superintendent. He was arrested on charges of accepting a bribe. Anand is also deemed suspended from his post following his arrest.

Hospital sources disclosed that the concerned authorities would soon set up an inquiry committee. 8220;We cannot investigate the particular case for which he was arrested since that is sub-judice. But other transactions would be reviewed.8221; The sources also said that a committee would be set up for the purpose.

According to civil service rules, any civil servant who is in the police lock up for over 24 hours is deemed suspended from the post he or she currently holds. 8220;Therefore Anand stands automatically suspended form his post even though he has not been formally suspended by the institute,8221; said AIIMS spokesman B K Dash. Anand has been remanded to judicial custody till August 4.

Police had also found numerous documents in his house relating to various properties around the city. He is said to own 6 acres of land in Chatarpur and a guest house in South Delhi or Gurgaon besides numerous other properties.
