
PUNE, Oct 17: If cash incentives acts as a trigger for excellence in sports then the increased prize money in this year8217;s 11th Late Jagdish Panditrao Agashe Inter-Cooperative Bank limited overs cricket meet could expected quite a competition, when the tourney gets underway from October 20.
The tourney conducted by the Suvarna Sahakari Bank Ltd., this year has attracted two more teams to its 16-team fold 8212; the Bombay Mercantile Cooperative Bank and Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Bank.
The organisers this year have also changed the format of tourney, by seeding last years semi-finalists into the quarter-finals. These privilege teams would thereafter be joined by four other teams who would battle it among 14-team preliminaries.
The organisers have added cash prizes of Rs 251 for the best individual efforts apart from the customary trophies being dished out for the best batsmen, bowler, fielder and wicket-keeper. In addition the Man of the Series would receive Rs 501. Likewise the winning team would gain Rs 2500 while the runners-up would pocket Rs 1500. The tourney will be played on a knock-out basis on a 35 over-per-side till the pre-quarter-finals, thereafter the matches will be played on a 40 over format.
