Affair leads to infanticide

According to information gathereed by The Indian Express, assistant sub inspector ASI Ram Krishan, who was investigating the case, arrested Vimla from her village on March 6, who, after further questioning, admitted to the crime and informed the police about her affair with Jagdish, whose eldest child is stated to be a 12-year-old girl.

The 8220;couple8221; also admitted that they dumped the few hours-old baby in the railway oil yards on December 13. According to the medical report, the child died due to extreme cold on the same day.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by the local station master, the Government Railway Police GRP had registered a case under section 318 of IPC in this regard.

Meanwhile, Vimla, who was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate CJM here yesterday, was granted bail.

The case could take a new turn, in case Vimla is established to be a 16-year-old, as she has claimed. However, the medical authorities have been asked to verify her age.

Meanwhile, the case has sent shockwaves among the villagers.
