The second Administrative Reforms Commission ARC headed by chairman Veerappa Moily will arrive here tomorrow to elicit views of the state government on the proposed revamping of the public administrative system in the country. The ARC is visiting Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya as part of its country-wide tour.
The ARC has already submitted three reports on the right to information, unlocking human capital and on crisis management to the Central Government. The ARC is currently working on issues like ethics in governance, citizen- centric administration, promoting e-governance and issues of federal polity.
During its visit, the ARC will interact with senior government officials, eminent retired officials and the chief minister to discuss administrative reforms. Later, it will conduct a public hearing and meet the media.
The ARC feels that in the last few years many state governments have taken innovative measures in several key sectors like human development, social services, public interface with the government and issues of livelihood, which have resulted in better implementation and marked improvement in governance in these sectors.
