MUMBAI, OCT 15: The new Standing Committee Chairperson of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, Waman Mhatre, has announced that strict action would be taken against the owner of Roop Sangam, the cloth store at Laxmi Market in Kalyan, which has been obstructing the Jari Mari nullah and causing flooding in eight localities. The plush departmental, built in 1972, also got an electricity pole shifted recently, to facilitate expansion. The police was relocated a few feet away from its original location allegedly without the requisite clearances from the local authorities.

Mhatre has asked the civic administration to take action against the shop-owner, Premji Gala, under the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act, 1966.
