
A minor girl, who was named as one of the accused in the gangrape and torture of a 17-year-old girl, underwent a lie-detector test conducted by the Panchkula police at Madhuban a few days ago.
The minor had been named by the victim in a statement before the magistrate. She was then booked under Section 164 of the CrPC for conniving with the other accused and blackmailing the victim.
Notices were then issued to both the minor and Kushal Kaushal, the owner of the Swift car which was used to transport the victim to Chandigarh.
8220;It was only recently that the lie-detector test was conducted on one of the accused, a minor girl, whose name appears in a statement given by the victim. It was a daylong test at Madhuban and continued for around seven hours,8221; said Inspector Surjit Kumar, Sho, Sector 14 and the Investigating Officer in the case.
He added that as Kaushal was not in town, he could not take the test.
The victim had been allegedly raped and tortured by four persons including a girl on September 16.
The police, meanwhile, have not been able to identify one of the main accused in the case, Chhavi.
In a reply filed in the local court recently, after the completion of three months of the case, the police had said that an in-depth investigation in the role of various persons named in the complaint and their role in the crime is yet to be ascertained.
