The CBI which is investigating the murder of Catholic nun Abhaya informed the Kerala High Court on Tuesday that it had received only a single CD of the narco-analysis tests conducted on three primary suspects in the case.
Earlier, the court had asked the Central Forensic Lab in Bangalore to directly produce the CD of the narco tests, after the court developed suspicion that the content of the tests had been tampered with. Accordingly, the CFL produced three CDs of the tests done on Fr Thomas Pithrikkayail, Fr Jose Kottoor and Sr Stefy. The lab, in a letter to the court, said three CDs had been send to CBI hadquarters in New Delhi.
However, CBI DySP R K Agarwal presented the letter from the lab addressed to the CBI, which had reference to only one CD. Hence, the agency reiterated that it had obtained only a single CD. The CBI produced the letter in the court when the judge remarked that the investigating agency was making a false statement on the number of CDs of the tests. Judge V Ramkumar has sought the CD of the test, while hearing an appeal of Abhaya8217;s father Thomas Aikkarakkunnel, seeking a direction to the CBI to speed up the probe.
