NAGPUR, March 8: Internal differences in the State unit of the Congress will be sorted out and the party will put up a united front against the Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party combine in the State, Ramesh Chennithala, secretary of All India Congress Committee AICC in charge of Maharashtra told reporters here on Sunday.
Answering a string of questions at a press conference regarding the infighting, Chennithala merely mentioned that there were no pro-and anti-Pawar lobbies working in the party8217;s State unit. He refrained from commenting on various examples of public show of infighting in the party, including the silent tussle between Datta Meghe and Prabha Rau during party president Sonia Gandhi8217;s meeting at Pulgaon on Saturday. Chennithala was present at the meeting.
The AICC secretary said efforts will be made to unite all the leaders in the State so as to give a tough fight to the BJP-Sena combine in the ensuing Assembly polls. He said people expect unity in the Congress, and the leaders should rise totheir expectations.
Chennithala, who is considered the architect of the Congress8217; surprise win in the recent Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, was given charge of Maharashtra just a week ago. He is on a three-day visit to Nagpur and Aurangabad to meet grassroot party workers here.
Earlier, toeing the party president8217;s line, Chennithala launched a scathing attack on the alliance government in the State, saying, 8220;It is a total failure on all fronts8221;.
