Two years ago when Rabia joined the Satyareiki Commune at the insistence of a close friend, she had no idea what Reiki was all about. In fact she was quite sceptical to begin with. But after a few sessions she felt a powerful awakening within herself which can only be felt and not described, 8220;Reiki,8221; says Rabia, 8220;is a miracle, and once you are into it you understand that everything in this world is Reiki.8221; A Japanese word, Reiki literally means Rei 8211; ray of life and Ki 8211; cosmic energy. This energy induces new life into every cell of the body clearing out stress and revitalising the entire being.

In fact in today8217;s world it seems that Reiki is the only answer if one has to survive with some inner satisfaction. Reiki has the ability to bring all the chaos generated within us to a focal point from which to work on, when past and future merge into the present and there is a resurgence of inner growth which was stunted because of the external stress.

Though Rabia was extremely satisfied with her learning, she did not have any plans of starting a school, but it was almost as if preordained. While still a student, their teacher had to go out of station for sometime and even though she was a new student, it was she who was chosen to take over the reins for that period of time. She has no idea how the seniors came to such a decision. However this decision helped her gain confidence and though she was slightly nervous when her first student from France turned up at her doorstep, she started off and has never looked back. But before she took on students, she gave Reiki to her husband, daughter and son. The change that has come about in each of them is phenomenal.

Rabia believes in setting a limit to the number of students in one session, which is generally a maximum of six. During the first two days of the session, which comprises the first degree of Reiki, the student just speaks to her about all his/her problems and confusions. Fears and hopes flow from the student to the master. As a communication system is built between the two, the master steps in and gives energy in the form of vibrations and symbols to the student. This leads to a total relaxation of the mind and the body. A focus is created and it is the present that occupies the mind than the past or the future. This is the moment of initiation when the master supplies the single drop of dew that helps the lotus to open up to the life giving rays of the sun.

Once initiation begins with the first degree, focus is on the seven chakras of the body, Four of these are connected to the earth and three of them are related to the spiritual. The initiation begins from the crown which is the opening gate for the flow of cosmic energy into the body and soul. The hands are used as the pathway for the energy source. The second degree deals with the infinite or divine when symbols come into use.

With the first degree there sets in a kind of flow of inner thoughts like a torrent. The energy released in the body begins to act on the blocks within caused due to emotional or mental stress which manifests itself in the form of disease. At this stage one might feel physical discomfort and pain. With regular practice on one8217;s own self, these discomforts are shed. Once these degrees have been mastered, one moves on to the higher degree 8211; the Master8217;s degree 8211; which is only for those who are either spiritually inclined or have the intention of becoming healers. Not all students of Reiki are capable of going up to the Master8217;s degree. Here, it is the insight and alertness of the master which recognises the potential of the student and counsels him accordingly.

Very aptly, Rabia has chosen the name Heart to Heart Rainbow Bridges8217; for her school. By spiritually building a bridge between herself and her students, she has brought into the life of many, the splendour of the rainbow thus making their lives worth living.
