Indian Police Service officers may be cross about the Pay Commission recommendations but there is a handful that has a reason to smile. With stagnation at the top levels in Central paramilitary forces, there is a move to create a new post8212;that of Special Director General. A proposal with the Union Home Ministry to create at least three such posts is close to being approved. Two of these posts are likely to be created within the Central Reserve Police Force, the country8217;s largest paramilitary force. One of these will be in the Eastern Region, probably by upgrading an existing post in Kolkata. The other will be located in Jammu, for the Northern Region, goes the buzz. The third Special DG is to be an officer in the Border Security Force. The rationale for the new posts is that at least three officers in these Central paramilitary forces have reached the seniority of DG and they need to be designated as such.
