A rendezvous with colours

Tao art exhibition not only displays a wonderful collection of contemporary abstract art, landscape and much more, but also offers possession in pocket friendly prices

A tale told, an emotion expressed, an issue discussed and an outbreak noticed 8211; Tao at Ishanya witnessed a conglomeration of views and ideas through canvas and colours.

The exhibition featured the works of some of the finest contemporary artistes, including veterans like S H Raza, Ajay De, Subhash Awchat and many other new names, who put on display their creations for the art lovers and art connoisseurs.

A film on Raza, Get Candid With Raza was also screened in which he spoke at length about his perception of the art as a representative of Indian culture and civilisation.

8220;Painting is much beyond just the colour coordination, which no doubt is important, but a painter must have personal ambition to come out with a good and sensible painting,8221; says Raza.

He says that he was lucky to be accompanied by values like satya meaning truth, sneha meaning love and shanti meaning peace that made his life complete and give direction to his art as well. 8220;Five elements of nature are represented by five primary colours 8211; blue, white, red, black, and yellow. I have been focusing on these colours are trying different ways out of which I could make my own universe. I like bindu art in which one center emits ripples of peace and knowledge,8221; says the artist, whose painting, titled Shanti, was also put on display in the exhibition.

The art list included abstract painting, figurative, neutral hues and vibrant canvases. Ketki Pimpalkhare, a city-based artist, whose paintings were displayed, says, 8220;Mine is a contemporary abstract art. I have kept it open for the viewers to take a look and comprehend it on their own.8221;

Another seven-minute film on a dance representation of Raza8217;s creation Shanti was also screened. When asked that is the painting somehow depicting anything related to the recent terror attacks in Mumbai, Pimpalkhare says, 8220;The current affairs certainly affect everyone. My painting portrays the breaking free of the common man. It is more like it says 8211; I will not lie down and take things at face value. However, I don8217;t want to restrict my viewers imagination so I would not like to speak more on this.8221;

Organised keeping in view the aesthetic taste of Puneites, the exhibition also took care of pockets and paintings exhibited ranged from 30,000 to 30 lakh. The exhibition was organised by Monika Trivedi, patron of the show and Parul Mehta, director, Deepak Fetrilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation. The show would go on at Tilting Art Gallery till December 23.
