This is the fourth occasion during this year that Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged sweets and dry fruits at Chakan-da-Bagh point, the previous days being August 14, October 13 (on the eve of Eid-ul Fitr) and November 9 (Diwali).

Chakan-da-Bagh is opened every fortnight to facilitate cross-LoC movement of civilians from both parts of divided Jammu and Kashmir.

A ceasefire continues to hold along the LoC and international border since November 2003.
