.

8226; Citizen Bharat has completed his 58 years under Independence and has shown remarkable wisdom far beyond his years. How come in a nation with poor literacy levels, Citizen Bharat has shown wisdom far beyond the capability of all its law makers put together? Possibly this is due to the fact that the citizens are true products of India8217;s 5,000-year-old culture. The law makers, however, are living in their own make-believe culture of divide and rule. Congrats to Citizen Bharat!

No social justice

8226; Apropos of the editorial, 8216;Autonomy in education8217; IE, August 15, it brings to mind how a state like Tamil Nadu, in the sixties under Periyar, coined
a phrase like 8220;social justice8221;. Thus started this business of reservations. This spread to the Central government through V.P. Singh and now 80 per cent of the population is seeking 100 per cent of all jobs and college seats by virtue of what they call 8220;oppression8221; by forward castes. In this, Dravidian parties have topped the list: 69 per cent of college seats and government jobs are 8220;reserved8221; for worthless people. Now all institutions of excellence, like IITs and IIMs, are becoming targets of these rabid forces headed by M. Karunanidhi, Ramdoss or other political leaders. After IIT no other centre of international repute or excellence has dared to come to Chennai due to this precondition by Dravidian political leaders.

Help bar girls

8226; Simply banning the dance bars 8216;Bidding adieu to Mumbai8217;s dance bars8217;, IE, August 11 in Mumbai won8217;t do. Providing some 75,000-odd girls with alternative means of livelihood is more pertinent. As it is poverty and not pleasure that forces such young girls to cater to people8217;s baser instincts. Let us hope that the government realises this and make more supportive efforts for their
rehabilitation.

Assam8217;s problems

8226; This is in response to the August 13 editorial about I-Day celebrations and the terror created by ULFA in Assam 8216;I-Day terrorists8217;. It ignores the problems faced by the people of Assam. In fact, this aspect is not expressed in any national daily. People of Assam know very well what their problems are. Are they created by the ULFA
or by the Centre?
