
MUMBAI, June 10: Four persons were nabbed while planning a robbery near the French Bridge at Hughes Road on Wednesday afternoon.
On a tip off, the Gamdevi police had laid a trap for a gang which assembled at the bridge. While four were arrested, two managed to give the police the slip. The police team recovered a country-made revolver, live cartridges, a chopper and other assorted weapons.
While the arrested have been identified as Mohammed Hamid Yunus Ansari 24, Babu Khalil Khan 19, Pradeep Mishra 25 and Samshad Habib Khan 21, the escaped duo have been identified as Irfan Pathan and Nissar for whom a search is on. Meanwhile, the Social Service branch of Mumbai police on Wednesday arrested a audio cassette dealer for possession of duplicate audio cassettes and other applicances worth Rs 3.69 lakh.
Police raided a shop in Irani building at Jacob Circle and recovered 11,913 duplicate audio cassettes. While the owner Munna Sheth was away, his deputy Raju Zahid Pathan8217;s 18 was taken into custody.
