NEW DELHI, Aug 15: On the second consecutive day when rain and darkness brought a premature end to the third round, just four Indians made the cut at the Volvo Masters golf tournament, in Kuala Lumpur, according to information received here.

About 72 players who could not finish the second round due to rain completed their rounds today.

Arjun Singh, despite a promising two-under first round, had a par in the second to be in the joint 28th position with a two-under 142 to have the best score among Indians. He is eight strokes behind the leader Zaw Moe of Mynamar who had yet another 67 to be 10-under 134 and three strokes ahead of American Eric Meeks and Danny Zarate (The Philippines).

The major casualty among Indians, after the cut was applied at two over 146, was Indian Open winner Firoz Ali who returned four over 76 to finish at three over 147. The others who failed to make the cut include Uttam Singh Mundy (six-over 150), Jyoti Randhawa (six-over 150), Kanwar Sekhon (8-over 152) and Amandeep Johl(9-over 153).

There was little to celebrate for the Indians who seem to have faded out after the initial round. Close behind Arjun Singh is Amritinder Singh who returned three under 69 to lie in the joint 32th position with a one under 143. Gaurav Ghei, who had a one over 73 in the first round, went one under in the second and managed a par 144 for a joint 42nd place along with Vivek Bhandari, Arjun Atwal and eight others. Bhandari managed another par round, while Atwal carded 71.

Meanwhile, the leader Moe extended his lead late in the day with a three under par front nine following birdies on the second, seventh and eight holes. He is currently ranked 32nd on the Japan PGA Tour Money List.
