
In one of the biggest RDX hauls in Jammu and Kashmir so far, Ramban Police today recovered 200 kg of RDX from a hideout in Sumber village of the district.
The RDX was recovered early in the morning today, along with three timers, 60 detonators, 25 kg of wire, five rounds of pika ammunition etc from a militant hideout.
Security forces believe that the 200 kg of RDX had been dumped by dreaded local militant Kari, owing allegiance to the Lashkar-e-Toiba, and that the plan was to use it for different militant activities in the region.
According to reports, the Ramban Police had received a tip-off on the presence of the RDX. A search operation was immediately launched by the Ramban police along with security forces, including the Special Task Force of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Border Security Force and Rashtriya Rifles. During the operation, the team stumbled upon a hideout of the militants in an area between the Sumber and Bijouni villages of Ramban district.
Ramban Superintendent of Police Basant Kumar Rath said that today8217;s RDX haul was among the biggest in the state so far. Search operations are still on in the area to catch the militants. Rath said no one was present in the hideout when they raided it.
In another incident, security forces gunned down a militant in an encounter in Udhampur district last night. The
security forces had launched a search operation in Chappar Bareilly area, where the encounter took place.
