Three employees of a government-aided school were arrested by the Vigilance Bureau on Friday on charges of cheating. The arrested have been identified as Gurdial Singh, manager of the managing committee of Dashmesh Khalsa High School at Heran village, Harbans Singh, head teacher, and Kulwant Singh, a science teacher in the school.

In a press release issued on Friday, Senior Superintendent of Police Vigilance Bureau Kanwarjit Singh Sandhu said a complaint had been filed against the three under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The complaint states that Kulwant Singh served as a member of the panchayat committee of Aitiana village in Ludhiana district from 1998 to 2003 while he was employed as a teacher. According to the rules, a person cannot hold both posts at once.

Harbans Singh and Gurdial Singh were named as accomplices as they had full knowledge of the violation and had issued a no-objection certificate to Kulwant Singh in a misuse of their official position, said the SSP.
