DECEMBER 30: Police arrested two Pakistani ISI agents and seized a cache of arms from a strongroom at Jogeshwari today. The operation was carried out by the Special Crime Branch. The agents8217; identities have been withheld as this could hamper investigations. However, it is suspected that both were in Mumbai with a mission related to the Indian Airlines plane hijacking, sources added.

Police had been tipped off that a key associate of Saudi Arabian billionare and world8217;s most wanted terrorist Osama Bin Laden is likely to carry out subversive operations in the region. He has been identified as a Taliban militant, Mohammed Hasan Mohammed Ali alias Abu Ahmed. Intelligence sources say Ali is a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group. He has operated in Afganistan as well. In other incidents, more than 10 AK 47 rifles have been seized from Pakistani-trained militants early this year.

Laden is believed to be connected with 14 militant groups, of which five are very active. The outfits are: the Lashkar-e-Taiba, Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, Al-Badar, Hizbul Mujahideen and Tehrik-i-Jihad.
