AMRITSAR, July 13: The Amritsar police today arrested two imposters, pretending to be Deputy Superintendent and Sub-Inspector of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on the charge of extorting money from people under the pretext of securing jobs for them in the CBI.

While Rashpal Singh belonged to Tarn Taran, Navtej Singh alias Amar Pal Singh lived in Housing Board Colony, Amritsar.

Preliminary interrogation of Rashpal Singh revealed that he was employed in the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Amritsar, and had been placed under suspension.

Navtej Singh was lured into conning people by Rashpal Singh, who had earlier tried to extract Rs 10,000 from Navtej. He had, however, disclosed his true motives later and the two had joined hands. The police have registered a case under Section 419/420/120-B of the IPC.
