14 held for thefts during rural police drive

The Ludhiana rural police have arrested 14 people during the last week and recovered stolen items worth 2 lakh from them.

The Ludhiana rural police have arrested 14 people during the last week and recovered stolen items worth 2 lakh from them. The drive has been carried out by the police parties from Sidhwan Bet, Raikot and Dehlon

The police, according to the SSP, Ludhiana Rural, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, have recovered a car, inverters, jewellery besides Rs 70,000 in cash and 34 bags of wheat from their possession of the thieves. The total value of the stolen things is pegged at Rs 2,02,913.

Bhullar informed that the police party of Raikot arrested the accused Suresh Kumar, Deepak and Manpreet Singh and recovered Rs 70,000 in cash, and a diamond ring valued at Rs 25,000 from their possession. During the interrogation, the accused disclosed that they had cut the grills and stolen cash of Rs 84000 and one diamond ring from the Punjab Handloom shop situated at Raikot.

Similarly, the police party of Sidhwan Bet received a tip-off that Amritpal Singh, a resident of Shimlapuri, Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, Bablu, a resident of Lohara Colony, Shimlapuri, Pinku, a resident of Sahnewal, and Pappu, a resident of village Lohara were planning to commit a dacoity.

The police party of Dehlon arrested three accused, Baldev Singh and Shanker Bahadur, and recovered 34 bags of wheat which had been stolen from godowns of Markfed, Quila Raipur. The Jagraon police arrested the accused and recovered a Verna car.
