All Eyes On DCP
In a recent raid conducted by the central agency on a call centre in the state, the arrested accused have claimed that a DCP rank officer in the MMR region was aware about the illegal call centre and their activities. They claimed that the officer had conducted a raid and took Rs three crore to only name some of the accused and allow the bigger names to go scot free and continue with the operations. The agency is now looking for evidence for the claims. If evidence is found, the DCP could land himself in big trouble.
Lacking Representation
After much criticism, the Maharashtra government included opposition legislators in the committee to form the revised State Youth Policy. But the government, which claims to champion women’s development, especially with the introduction of Ladki Bahin Yojana, has not appointed a single woman legislator in the committee yet. Only a year ago, the state had its many firsts with Chief Secretary and Director General of Police being female.
Early Retirement
A young ruling alliance leader, close to the state’s top leadership, is learnt to have decided to retire from politics. Sources link him to the ‘Deva Bhau’ hoardings appearing across the state. The opposition have alleged that the retirement is likely due to the huge expense incurred on them. He is now likely to focus on business, with his firm securing several government contracts.
