The star cast of Jaspal Bhattis forthcoming movie Power Cut was in the city on Tuesday.
A romantic comedy,the movie is produced by Pawaljit Singh Rupal of P&R Films in association with Mad Arts. The cast interacted with the media at Yellow Chilli in Sarabha Nagar. Nothing can be as irking as a power cut, said Bhatti.
Bhatti said the movie was a satire on the dismal power situation in the state and the working of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). The movie,releasing on October 26,has a heroine called Bijli and a hero called Current.
Producer Pawaljit Singh Rupal said the story was set in Punjab with Prem Chopra as the power minister of the state and Rajesh Puri as the power corporation CMD. Bhatti and Jaswinder Bhalla,who is a comedian of Punjabi cinema,play village jesters (Bhands) who make fun of the electrical and political system throughout.
The movie has unique numbers based on the concept of power cut and even the movie actors have been satirically named to go with the movie theme. The music has been composed by Gurmeet Singh. Some of the songs include Ki karoonga Jatt,je lag jaye power cut by Mika,featuring Bhatti and Bhalla,Mai bijli mai bijli by Sunidhi Chauhan. The special attraction of the movie is power cut boliyan (Punjabi couplets). Other songs include ghutt charh kay,the Bhangra song by Lehmber Hussainpuri featuring Bhatti,Surilie Gautam and Zafar Khan,and gal bevas hoyi by Master Saleem.
Jasraj Bhatti,the son of Jaspal Bhatti,will be debuting as an actor. In the lead roles are Surilie Gautam,a TV actor of Meet Milade fame and younger sister of Vicky Donor actor Yamini Gautam,and debutant Zafar Khan,a product of Mad Arts. The movie also stars B N Sharma,Gurchet Chitrakar,Savita Bhatti,Rajesh Puri,Chandan Prabhakar and Harpal.
