Lalita D'Silva is no stranger to paparazzi. Her fame has soared since being photographed with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan's sons, Taimur and Jeh. D'Silva, 58, is famous for her services as a nurse/nanny to top celebrities in the corporate and film worlds. In an interview with indianexpress.com, she discussed how paparazzi culture has made fame inevitable, her connection with newly-wed Anant Ambani, working with Kareena for Taimur and Jeh, travelling to dream destinations like the Paris Olympics 2024, and her new services venture. Reuniting with the Ambanis during the Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant wedding One of the "priceless moments" from Anant Ambani's grand wedding, D'Silva recalled, was when she arrived at the venue and was warmly greeted by each member of the Ambani family. "Mukesh sir, Isha, and Nita ma'am all welcomed me with hugs and said, 'Your baba is married now. He is a big man.' It was very touching, and I even had tears in my eyes," D'Silva said. Describing the experience, she said, "Throughout the wedding, everyone was so warm, talking to me as if I was still part of the family made me a part of the celebrations. I am so happy for the newlyweds; they make a lovely couple. God bless. I was pleasantly happy to be included in the celebrations." D'Silva, then a nurse at Mumbai's BreachCandy Hospital, began working for the Ambani family in 1996 to care for their younger son, Anant. "I have no words for the Ambanis. They are extremely warm, caring, and generous. Anant is my first baccha and a very good soul," she said, reflecting on the 12 years she spent looking after Anant before resigning. "Kareena ma'am was abroad for a shoot at that time, so I couldn't make it," she said. On Taimur and the media frenzy Recommended by word of mouth, D'Silva was hired by the Khans to care for Taimur. "They are such a good family and true to their lineage; they treat their staff with royal respect," D'Silva said. With over 30 years of experience, D'Silva became prominent in the media due to her role in shielding Taimur, with her photographs appearing widely. "It was Taimur who brought me into the limelight, and I will always feel blessed for that opportunity," she noted, adding that "Kareena ma'am was also very considerate about the staff's needs." D'Silva resigned in August 2023, despite Kareena wanting her to stay. "I wanted to settle down now that I am 58. So, even though Kareena ma'am wanted me to stay, I decided to resign," she shared. On the Konidelas and travelling to attend the Olympics in Paris D'Silva, currently in Hyderabad working with Ram Charan and Upasana to care for their one-year-old Klin Klara, described the Konidelas as "humble, down-to-earth, and good people." She said, "They have made me a part of their family, and I feel blessed." Attending the Paris Olympics 2024 with the Chiranjeevi family was a dream come true for D'Silva. "Traveling with the family to Paris was an incredible experience. I feel blessed to have such opportunities, which would otherwise be just a middle-class dream," she said. At the Olympics, she attended the gymnastics event and met India's badminton star PV Sindhu. Coming from a "middle-class family," D'Silva has always aimed for a "normal life" despite her media attention. "I have a husband and a 35-year-old son, who runs a business," she said. My family has been extremely supportive. My late mother-in-law took care of my son, and they have always supported my decisions." On her salary getting all the hype and her next venture "I don't know where the speculation of my salary being 2.5 lakh started from.but I would say that nurse services are a 24*7 job without any weekends off or regular leaves. It is a respectable job but something that's not secure. So, I have planned to start my own services venture - Mantra Consultancy - which will cater to all needs of a newborn's family," revealed D'Silva.
