Beginning your day on a healthy note is crucial to maintain your overall well-being. Masaba Gupta abides by something similar as her mornings are filled with everything healthy and mindful. In a recent video shared by Tweak India, Masaba opened up about her morning routine.

“Join Masaba Gupta in a morning like no other. From indulgent French toast feasts to a goodness-packed digestive tea and a skincare checklist, we’ve got it all. Get a tutorial on her calming anulom vilom practices. Get ready to infuse your mornings with colourful inspiration,” the caption read.

On being asked how she begins her day, Masaba said, “I like to kickstart my day by consciously avoiding my phone for the first hour. Then, I get into doing a lot of breathwork. It sort of wakes me up and gets the oxygen running and blood circulating.”

Post that, the designer gets into her workout. “So it’s either a yoga class or it’s a strength training class,” she said, adding that if she had only 10 minutes to spare for exercise, Masaba would prefer doing 21 Surya Namaskars.

As for her skincare routine, it has gotten a lot simpler of late, Masaba confessed. “I have tried to stay away from actives on my skin. So I am just doing a lot of moisturising, maybe a hyaluronic acid once in a while, and lots and lots of aloe vera. But, I like to keep it simple so it’s typically like aloe vera, face wash, moisturiser, and sunscreen. At night, it’s just an undereye cream and moisturiser.”

Masaba also shared what her breakfast on a regular day looks like. “It’s moong dal chilla with green chutney and scrambled eggs. My favourite breakfast of all time has got to be French toast, cold coffee with almond milk, and fries on the side,” she said, adding that she can’t have this spread more than twice a week.

The designer, who is a known health and fitness aficionado, also shared a superfood recipe she follows to maintain her internal health. “I have this incredible tea that I drink. It’s almost like a digestive tea, which has everything from ashwagandha to ajwain to fennel seeds, tulsi, neem, etc.”

Masaba said that tea is really powerful and helps her calm down. “It is great for when you feel excessive water in your system, bloated, etc,” she said.

To reset her day on a really hectic day, she relies on anulom-vilom, which is alternate nostril breathing. “In some sense, it rewires my brain. You always start with the left nostril. You breathe in through your left nostril, hold for a split second, and breathe out through the right. Then you breathe in through the right nostril and end through the left. 12 rounds,” Masaba said.

She also shared a habit she is trying to inculcate in her morning routine. “A proper meditation,” she said, adding, “I just find it really hard to sit through a full-blown guided meditation. I look at my breathwork as meditation but I don’t know if it’s enough. I also want to learn how to journal,” she said.
