Here are some easy tips:
Go green with garland
Use evergreen garlands to frame doorways, mantelpieces, or stair railings. For extra charm, add string lights or red ribbons.
Cosy up with throw pillows
Swap out regular throw pillows for festive ones with Christmas motifs like snowflakes, reindeer, or plaid patterns.
Traditional colours like red, green, and gold will never go out of style, but do try and experiment with modern tones like icy blues, whites, or even metallics for a contemporary twist, said Paresh Desai, founder, Laurel by Flavors. The key is to maintain harmony throughout the space, ensuring every corner feels thoughtfully designed,” said Desai.
Simple tablescapes
A bowl of ornaments, a few candles, and a sprig of pine make an elegant centerpiece. Joshi suggests mixing metallics like gold or silver for a touch of glam. ” Add a personal touch with handwritten name cards,” said Desai.

Light it up
String fairy lights across windows, along shelves, or in glass jars for a warm glow. Battery-operated candles are another safe and stylish option, said Joshi.
Twinkling fairy lights, warm candles, and even statement chandeliers can add depth and warmth to your décor. “Layer your lighting to create a cosy atmosphere that enhances the festive mood, especially for evening gatherings,” said Desai.
DIY ornaments
Create handmade ornaments using dried citrus slices, cinnamon sticks, or paper. They add a rustic, personal touch to your tree.
Festive wreaths
Hang a wreath on your front door to set a cheerful tone. You can even make your own using natural elements like pinecones and berries. Akshay Shetty, founder, Craycraft advised swapping evergreen wreaths for handmade garlands of marigold or mogra. “Enhance centerpieces with vibrant seasonal fruits like pomegranates, guavas, or even dried orange slices. These details not only look stunning but also reflect a touch of nature’s beauty,” said Shetty.
Seasonal scents
Simmer a pot of water with orange slices, cloves, and cinnamon sticks to fill your home with holiday fragrance.
Let your decor appeal to all the senses. “Include soft, festive melodies in the background, add the aroma of freshly baked treats or cinnamon-spiced drinks, and incorporate soft throws or cushions for comfort,” described Shetty.
Remember, Christmas isn’t about perfection it’s about infusing your space with love, creativity, and a reflection of your own personality. Enjoy the process, and let the magic of the season shine through every detail, shared Shetty.
