Making small changes to your diet can have a significant impact on your overall health and nutrition. This holds true for certain foods that, when consumed together in the proper combination, not only fulfil your nutritional needs but also have the potential to enhance the health of your skin and hair by positively influencing your gut. In a similar vein, nutritionist Kiran Kukreja spoke about how combining homemade curd with roasted flaxseed powder helps provide much-needed nutrition to the body.

“Combining curd and flaxseeds in your diet can provide a holistic approach to hair health. The protein from curd and the omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants from flaxseeds can work synergistically to nourish the hair and support a healthy scalp,” said Kukreja.
How to make the mix?
Take 1 cup of curd and add 1 teaspoon of flaxseed powder to it, mentioned Kukreja.
How much to have?
Can either take it at breakfast or lunch, said Kukreja.
Does it work?
Dr Sravya C Tipirneni, consultant dermatologist, Cosmetologist and Trichologist at Manipal Hospitals in Bangalore said that while there is limited scientific research specifically on the combination of flax seeds and curd for hair health, individually, both ingredients offer potential benefits. “Incorporating them into your diet may support overall hair health and potentially improve hair texture and strength,” said Dr Tipirneni.
“Flax seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for hair growth and overall hair health. They also contain antioxidants that may help prevent damage to hair follicles. Curd or yoghurt is known for its nourishing properties. It contains proteins, vitamins, and minerals that can contribute to the overall health of hair,” said Dr Tipirneni.
However, it’s important to note that hair health is influenced by various factors, including genetics, overall nutrition, lifestyle habits, and proper hair care. “It’s always best to maintain a balanced diet, stay hydrated, and follow a good hair care routine for optimal hair health,” said Dr Tipirneni.
She further pointed out that it’s recommended to consult with a healthcare professional or a dermatologist for personalised advice and guidance regarding any specific hair concerns.
