When Malaika Arora spoke about getting into yoga (Photo: Malaika Arora/Instagram)Malaika Arora has always advocated for yoga. But turns out, it is something she started doing only a few years ago. “I found out about yoga about 4-5 years ago. I got slowly introduced to it. There’s always the pre-conceived notion that yoga is slow, or it’s for the elderly…but you don’t have to do a rigorous workout where you are sweating buckets or panting. I don’t take it as an answer,” she told Zee Café in 2019.
Also speaking about her love for cooking, Malaika said she loves whipping up green Thai curry. “I love cooking Thai curry with green curry, vegetables. I was never really good with desserts, but now I am learning. Now, I know there are healthy options,” she said.
Malaika’s description of yoga as a practice is apt, considering it gave her strength, focus, and emotional steadiness. “For her, yoga is not just a physical routine. It is the foundation on which her day rests. It is where she returns to breathe, to reset, and to find herself again. And the beauty of her journey is that this inner discipline has made everything else in her life more joyful, not restricted,” said fitness expert Garima Goyal.
She also emphasised her relationship with food. Despite being a fitness icon, she celebrates her weekly biryani and openly talks about her love for cooking. There is no guilt, no fear and no unnecessary rules, and this is where the real message lies. Move your body with sincerity. Eat with awareness. Let joy and discipline coexist,” mentioned Goyal.

According to the expert, wellness is not created through extremes. It is created through presence. “When you are grounded through yoga, you naturally bring that calm into everything you do. Cooking becomes creative. Eating becomes mindful. Work becomes purposeful. Even leisure feels richer,” said Goyal.
When you enjoy what you do, your brain releases dopamine and serotonin, the feel-good chemicals that boost mood, metabolism, and immunity, shared consultant dietitian Kanikka Malhotra.
“Yoga teaches your body to relax and your mind to stay present. And when you add joy to the mix, every action becomes nourishing. You don’t just exercise—you live with ease, energy, and flow,” said Malhotra.
