Sam Smith wore a custom Harri creation the the Brit Awards this year. (Source: Harri/ Instagram)Like every year, London Fashion Week has gathered together some of the most imaginative and cutting-edge minds in fashion, culture, and technology to put on the five-day event, which will take place in classic British locations such as Somerset House and The Strand. Harri is one such legendary new-age designer who is taking London Fashion Week by storm.
After his debut last year, Kerala-born designer Harikrishnan Keezhathil Surendran Pillai walked through the golden gates of London Fashion Week for his second collection.
A BFC Newgen winner this year, he created a stir once more with his signature piece — the classic balloon design in a riot of colours and shapes — with fitted bodices and puffed-up trousers.
HARRI’s fanciful cosmos has caused ripples around the world, broadening its frontiers through inflatable latex outfits with their own minds. The designer dressed Sam Smith for the 2023 BRIT AWARDS, and the satirical ensemble is now on display at London’s Design Museum.
HARRI brought his sculptural talent to the masses during Spring/Summer 2024, hosting an intimate display steeped in performance art. The exhibit, titled “CHAPTER THREE: TEXTURE & MOVEMENT,” provided a more detailed look into four-dimensional silhouettes inspired by Isamu Noguchi and Peter Shelton’s bulbous works.

On his website, he describes how he creates his works by combining traditional Indian woodturning, high-quality latex from Sri Lanka, and the best Scottish wool. Harri believes in fusing many facets of human culture, craft, and community.
HARRI experimented with the body’s natural ratios across swollen latex garments, dressing grease-skinned models in bald caps with long hair parts. As bloated clothing beautifully danced in appreciation, the event crossed the threshold into performance art. Some were hoisted high in the air, while others deformed into horrific shapes with an ethereal quality.
Aside from his signature balloons, HARRI also presented casual tailoring with pointed shoulders, restricted leggings, and Vibram Five Fingers shoes. The collection exuded youthful vitality, with bright greens, dim-lit greys, and dark black tones.
From iconic fashion labels like Burberry, Molly Godard, and JW Anderson to up-and-coming designers like Harri, London Fashion Week is the right blend of classical style and contemporary artistry. It’s a lavish gathering attended by the world’s crème de la crème, featuring celebrities like Kate Winslet and Winnie Harlow.
