Will take steps to make west UP a separate state if voted to power at Centre: BSP chief Mayawati

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Sunday said that her party will take steps to declare western Uttar Pradesh a separate state if voted to power at the Centre.

“If you (people of the state) want, we will take strong steps to declare Western Uttar Pradesh as a separate state when our government will be formed at the Centre for development of people of this region,” the former UP chief minister said at a public rally in Muzaffarnagar.

She added that the party will also ensure that the needs of the poor, labourers, farmers and small business owners are met for the development of region when the BSP comes to power in the Centre.

The BSP has nominated Dara Singh Prajapati as its candidate from Muzaffarnagar.
