Several regions across India receive heavy rainfall

Several regions across India receive heavy rainfall

A significant amount of rainfall has been recorded in the last 24 hours across several regions including East Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha in Maharashtra, Kerala and Mahe in Puducherry, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The Southwest monsoon further advanced into most parts of the North Arabian Sea and the remaining parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan on June 27.

Heavy rainfall

According to IMD, heavy rainfall was observed in most places over West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe; at many places over Saurashtra and Kutch, and Vidarbha; at a few places over Assam and Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha; and at isolated places over West Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, coastal Karnataka, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

Northwest India

According to IMD’s report, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand will see light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall over the next five days; Himachal Pradesh on June 28 and June 29; and East Uttar Pradesh from June 29 till July 1. East Rajasthan will receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on June 29 and June 30 and Uttarakhand from June 28 to June 30.

Central India

Madhya Pradesh will receive light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy/very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning during the next four to five days and over Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha during the next two days.

West India

As per IMD’s forecast, Konkan and Goa, Gujarat and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra will see light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall during the next 5 days. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over the Gujarat region on June 28.

East and adjoining Northeast India

Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over West Bengal and Sikkim on June 28 and over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh from June 29 to July 1. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of east India during the next two days and over northeast India during the next five days.

South India

Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over coastal Karnataka from June 28 to July 2 and Kerala from June 30 to July 2.
