A day after the brutal killing of a senior manager of a private steel plant at Titlagarh,police on Friday detained two persons while the Orissa government sought a report from the district administration and police.
“We have detained two persons. They are being interrogated,” northern range DIG R P Koche said.
Some people are likely to be arrested soon,he said.
Koche was camping in the district since the incident took place last afternoon.
R S Roy,deputy general manager (Operations) of Graphite India Ltd-Powmex steel division died yesterday when his car was set ablaze by agitating employees outside the factory,about 75 km from here.
Meanwhile,the plant authorities have shut down the factory for the day as a mark of respect to the DGM,Koche said.
The state government asked the district administration to thoroughly probe the matter and ensure that the culprits were arrested.
“The government have asked the Bolangir collector and SP to submit report on the incident. We have also instructed manager,district industries centre (DIC) to conduct a separate probe into the incident,” Industries Secretary T Ramachandru told reporters in Bhubaneswar.
Some of the suspended workers,who were staging a dharna outside the plant for past several months,were suspected to be involved in the incident,Bolangir SP Ajay Sadangi said.
The police have formed separate squads to nab people involved in the crime,he said.
Simmering discontent among suspended workers of a private steel factory in Orissas Bolangir district took a nasty turn on Thursday when 60-year-old Radheshyam Ray,DGM (Operations) of Graphite India Ltds Powmex steel division,was burnt alive when he was about to leave the factory for lunch.
