Lathicharge on job-seekers

Police on Monday lathicharged to quell a crowd of youths,who blocked the busy dak bungalow roundabout here demanding jobs in Bihar police and Bihar Military Police (BMP).

Claiming that they had participated in physical fitness tests and thus were eligible for jobs in Bihar police and BMP,hundreds of job-seekers staged a sit-in at the busy roundabout,police said.

They also tried to burn an effigy of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

As the sit-in hit the movement of traffic and the protestors refused to withdraw their agitation,police resorted to lathicharge to disperse them.

Five persons were detained for disrupting the vehicular traffic,the police said.
