The discussion will also focus on the “critical role of space programme for Viksit Bharat by 2047.” Further, INDIA bloc VP candidate B Sudershan Reddy is scheduled to file his nomination for the Vice Presidential elections today. The Vice President will be elected by the Electoral Collage comprising of members of both the Houses, including those who were nominated. Polling will be conducting on September 9.
New Bills in final days of Monsoon session: The Lok Sabha passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, by a voice vote on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah tabled the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025. The Bill seeks to remove a Central or State Minister who is facing allegations of corruption or serious offences and has been detained for at least 30 days and has been referred to a Joint Committee.
The Bill will amend Article 75 of the Constitution: It will amend Article 75 of the Constitution, which primarily deals with the appointment and responsibilities of the Council of Ministers, including the Prime Minister. “A Minister, who for any period of 30 consecutive days during holding the office as such, is arrested and detained in custody, on allegation of committing an offence under any law for the time being in force, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years or more, shall be removed from his office by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister to be tendered by the 31st day after being taken in such custody,” the Bill states.
Parliament on Thursday passed The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, with the Rajya Sabha approving it without debate amid din.
The bill, piloted by Minister of Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw, seeks to ban all forms of online money games while promoting eSports and online social gaming.
It was approved by the Upper House after rejecting amendments moved by Opposition members. The bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
Opposition's vice-presidential candidate B Sudarshan Reddy on Thursday filed his nomination papers for the elections to the second highest office, and asserted the contest is not just about one individual, but about reaffirming the idea of India where Parliament functions with integrity, dissent is respected and institutions serve people with independence.
Rajya Sabha resumes proceedings amid protests by Opposition MPs.
Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die after Speaker Om Birla highlighted the important discussions during the Monsoon session. The House will now resume proceedings in the Winter session of the Parliament.
Lok Sabha resumed proceedings at 12 noon amid heavy protests by the Opposition MPs. PM Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other significant leaders were seen attending the discussion on the last day of the Monsoon Session.
Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm on Thursday after RS Chair Harivansh rejected the notices submitted by Opposition MPs, sparking a protest.
Former Supreme Court judge and Opposition INDIA alliance's Vice-Presidential nominee, Justice (Retd) B Sudershan Reddy spoke to reporters as he left for filing his nomination paper and said that program is going to be "simple" and he will interact with media once process is over.
Speaking briefly to reporters Reddy said, "...I will definitely speak with you after filing nomination...Program is simple, I am going to the Returning Officer to submit my nomination paper..."
Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 12 noon on Thursday amid disturbance in the House after Opposition MPs raised protests.
The Parliament will hold a special discussion today to honour India's first astronaut, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, who recently returned from a successful mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
According to the list of business, the discussion focuses on the "critical role of space programme for Viksit Bharat by 2047."
The country's 22nd Indian Institute of Management (IIM) is set to be established in Guwahati with an investment of Rs 555 crore, as Parliament cleared a Bill in this regard on Wednesday.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the new institution will start admitting students from the current academic year.
The Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was passed by the Rajya Sabha with a voice vote even as the Opposition staged a walkout soon after the bill was introduced.
It was cleared by the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Lok Sabha has been adjourned till August 21.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw spoke before the vote, saying that the government was okay with two of the three segments of the online gaming industry. The ban was on real money, which the minister said had led to economic hardships and suicides.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has claimed that the Constitution Amendment Bills introduced in Lok Sabha Wednesday has led to Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar being "most fearful".
In a post on social media platform X, Raut wrote: "Modi-Shah introduce a bill in Parliament to arrest and sack CMs and ministers. Naidu and Nitish are reportedly most fearful. Modi govt worries they might withdraw support!"

AIMIM chief Asadduddin Owaisi has come out in opposition of the three Bills tabled by Home Minister Amit Shah.

Opposing the Bill, Congress MP K C Venugopal questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah's arrest in the Sohrabuddin Shaikh encounter case.
Shah was arrested in 2010.

As the verbal duel reached a high, Congress leader Venugopal tore the Bill and threw it in the Well. This was followed by other Congress MPs and opposition party members, including Samajwadi Party’s Dharmender Yadav, doing the same. After this, all opposition MPs came to the Well of the House and started shouting slogans.
'Attempt to be heard'
TMC's Kalyan Banerjee, trying to be heard, neared Shah’s mic while the Union Home Minister was speaking on the Bill. Banerjee started shouting slogans.
Seeing this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju rushed to Shah’s seat and angrily asked Banerjee to step back.
Taking the cue, the entire Treasury Beaches moved towards the TMC MPs. They came so close that Shah himself had to intervene, asking people to calm down.

As soon as Union Home Minister Amit Shah rose to introduce the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025 and other Bills, there was commotion.
MPs from the Trinamool Congress were seen storming the Well of the House, shouting slogans.
They were, however, not joined by other members of the Opposition at that moment.
In a rare moment, BJP and TMC MPs came close to a scuffle in the Well of the House.
West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has criticised the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill, and called it “something more than a super-Emergency” and a “Hitlerian assault on the very soul of Indian democracy”.
