The date announcement of the Monsoon session comes just as Opposition leaders pushed for a special Parliament session at the earliest to discuss Operation Sindoor, a military exercise where India hit nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Under the rules, all issue can be discussed during the Monsoon session, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister said while responding to a question on the opposition’s demand.

This will be the first Parliament session since the Pahalgam attack in Kashmir, where 26 civilians were killed by terrorists. It is expected that the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor will be top points of discussion during the session.

An impeachment motion against former Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma is also expected to be moved in the Parliament during the Monsoon session, as the government reached out to Opposition parties on Tuesday in an attempt to build political consensus over the issue.
