Stepping up his attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on Tuesday accused his arch rival of rendering the central employment guarantee scheme MNREGA useless in Bihar.
“First it was NREGA. Then it became MNREGA,but Nitish later makes it to mean ‘sab marega’ (all will be killed),” Prasad said while campaigning for the RJD-LJP nominees in Nalanda district.
“In MNREGA,the poor were given jobs to dig ponds, nahars and pynes (canals),but Nitish brought ‘munh nochwas’ (earth-moving machines) for digging while the unemployed stand and watch even as hunger overcomes them,” he alleged.
There were indications that people had rejected the NDA and Congress,Prasad said.
“Congress,BJP and JD(U) are not going to open their account in the first four phase of elections to 182 of the 243 Assembly constituencies in Bihar,” he said.
Seeking to equate the advent of Nitish’s rule with “a bride”,the RJD supremo said “the swearing-in of the Nitish Kumar government has, initially, been a sweet experience of a groom and his family in the beginning, only to have bitter pills of it later.”
