In a setback to the LJP,its lone Muslim MLA in Bihar,Izhar Ahmed on Tuesday joined ruling JD(U) in presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Accompanied by his hundreds of supporters,Ahmed, who was LJP MLA from Ghashyampur constituency in Darbhanga, announced to join the JD(U) at a press conference.

Welcoming him into his party fold,Kumar said Ahmed had played a vital role as a legislator and had always been concerned about development of his area.

Speaking on the occasion,Ahmed slammed LJP supremo Ramvilas Paswan for denying him ticket.

“In spite of being the only Muslim legislator of the outgoing state Assembly, the LJP leadership has denied me ticket to contest the coming Assembly polls that has prompted me to quit the primary membership of the party,” he said.
