Top News Headlines of October 13, 2025 | The police in West Bengal’s Durgapur said Monday they have arrested another suspect in connection with the gang rape of a second-year MBBS student of a private medical college in the city after he was detained Sunday. According to police sources, Sheikh Nasiruddin, 24, a resident of Biraj, was arrested following a night-long interrogation after the other three suspects named him during their questioning. The Supreme Court, in an interim order on Monday, directed a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the September 27 stampede at actor Vijay’s rally in Tamil Nadu’s Karur, which killed 41 people. A bench of Justices J K Maheswari and N V Anjaria also set up a three-member supervisory committee headed by its retired judge, Justice Ajay Rastogi, to monitor the probe. A seven-year-old girl was raped allegedly by a man who hid in a bathroom at her school in Jaipur, police said on Sunday. The Station House Officer (SHO) of the police station that has jurisdiction in the area said the incident took place on Saturday morning at around 11 am, when the accused allegedly jumped the school wall and hid in the school toilet.
