Latest News Live Updates: Two more persons have been arrested in the NEET UG 2024 paper leak case were arrested Tuesday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Among the two, is Pankaj Kumar alias Aditya, who allegedly stole the question paper from the sealed trunk in Hazaribagh. The other accused has been identified as Raju. With the two arrests, the total number of persons arrested in connection with cases pertaining to leakage, impersonation and other irregularities in the medical entrance exam has now reached 14, they said.

Search ops launched following suspected movement in J&K's Poonch

The security forces launched a joint search operation following suspected movement of two persons in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Tuesday, officials said.

The troops are already on high alert along the border line and hinterland in the border district, they said.

Acting swiftly on information about spotting suspicious movement of two persons near Betaar river, the army and Special Operation Group (SOG) launched a search operation, the officials said. The soldiers also questioned one person roaming in the area, they said. (PTI)

There is no accountability says PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti after Doda attack

After Four army personnel succumbed to their injuries after an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday slammed the union government saying that there was no accountability and “almost 50 soldiers had lost their lives in the last 32 months.”

"There is no accountability. By now the heads should have rolled. The DGP should have been sacked. Almost 50 soldiers have lost their lives in the last 32 months... The current DGP is busy fixing things politically. His job is to break the PDP, harass people and journalists, and threaten people... Verification has been weaponised. They are finding ways to impose UAPA on maximum people... We don't need a fixer here, we need a DGP. We have had DGPs from other states before and they have worked very well. No one has worked on communal lines like things are being done now," she was quoted saying by news agency ANI.

Strongly condemns the Karnataka government for refusing to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, says M K Stalin

After holding an all-party meeting today on the Cauvery water issue, Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin expressed strong condemnation of the Karnataka government's refusal to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.

He urged the CWRC to promptly order the Karnataka Government to comply with the Supreme Court and CWMA orders by releasing the allocated Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, as reported by the news agency PTI.

Congress-led Karnataka government decided that they would release only 8,000 cusecs to Tamil Nadu per day till July 31 instead of 11,000 cusecs as asked by the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA).

“These repeated terrorist attacks are revealing the poor condition of Jammu and Kashmir. Our soldiers and their families are bearing the brunt of BJP’s wrong policies,” he added.

Doda encounter: Rajnath Singh pays tribute to slain soldiers

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday paid condolences to the families of the soldiers who lost their lives in the counter terrorist in Doda.

"Deeply saddened by the loss of our brave and courageous Indian Army Soldiers in an encounter in Urrar Baggi, Doda (J&K). My heart goes out to the bereaved families. The Nation stands firmly with the families of our soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty," he wrote in a post on X.

He also informed that the Counter Terrorist operations are underway. " Our soldiers remain committed to eliminate the scourge of terrorism and restore peace and order in the region."

Doda encounter: Jammu and Kashmir LG pays tributes to slain soldiers, vows to thwart designs of terrorists

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha pledged to seek justice for the soldiers who lost their lives in an encounter with terrorists in Doda district.

"We will avenge death of our soldiers & thwart the evil designs of terrorists and their associates. I call upon the people to unite in the fight against terrorism & provide us accurate information so that we can intensify anti-terror operations & neutralise the terror ecosystem". He also paid tributes to slain soldiers.

"I am deeply anguished to learn about the cowardly attack on our Army soldiers and JKP personnel in Doda district. Tributes to brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice protecting our nation. My deepest condolences to members of the bereaved families," he added.

Over 4,100 pilgrim leave Jammu base camp to join Amarnath Yatra

Over 4,100 pilgrims departed from Jammu city early Tuesday amidst heightened security, heading towards the twin base camps in Kashmir to join the Amarnath Yatra, officials reported.

The security measures have been intensified around the base camps and along the yatra route following an ambush that resulted in the deaths of four soldiers, including an officer, in a gun battle in Dessa area of Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district.

Extensive arrangements including three-tier security, area patrols, thorough route checks, and checkpoints have been implemented to ensure a safe and orderly yatra.

Commenting on Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin's decision to call an all-party meet on Tuesday to discuss the Cauvery water issue, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said, "Tamil Nadu have every right to meet as we meet. We don't object to their meeting. It is their duty. I don't want to comment on that. But at the same time, from yesterday, I am getting good inflow. More than 50,000 inflow in the Cauvery region. And whatever is there, we are allowing to go out of Harangi. I think more than 20,000 were going out of Harangi and other places."

"If God permits us all, our problems will be sorted out. But one thing I would like to appeal to Tamil Nadu. For your interest and our interest, more than our interest is your interest, you just permit us. Whatever storage we do, we will give you only that water. We can't take back that water. This is my simple, humble appeal on behalf of the people of Karnataka...We will cooperate in whatever way we can," he said.

Terrorists are attacking our soldiers, BJP busy attending marriages, says Congress leader Surendra Singh Rajput

Congress leader Surendra Singh Rajput on Tuesday attacked the BJP for the recent terrorist strikes in Jammu and Kashmir, and said: " “Our soldiers are being killed continuously. Is the BJP government only here to give statements? Terrorists are attacking our soldiers and they (BJP) are busy attending marriages".

Four army personnel including a Major-rank officer succumbed to their injuries after an encounter on Monday night in Doda district’s Desa forests in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, five Indian Army personnel were killed on July 8 after terrorists ambushed a convoy in Kathua district in Jammu.

Army officer among four soldiers killed in encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda

Four army personnel including a Major-rank officer succumbed to their injuries after an encounter on Monday night in Doda district’s Desa forests in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources said that at least five soldiers sustained bullet injuries after they chased terrorists into the forests who fled after a brief encounter with them.

They were evacuated to the hospital but four of them later succumbed to injuries. (Read More)
