Two maulanas (teachers) are on the run after they were booked for allegedly raping two minor Muslim girls inside a madrasa in Rampur district Monday, police said.
Based on complaints of the girls’ parents, an FIR was lodged Tuesday, they said. Medical examination of the victims has confirmed rape, police said.
Station House Officer Shailendra Srivastava said, according to the complaint, the girls, both 16-years-old and neighbours, had gone to the market to buy books Monday. As it started raining, they took shelter in the verandah of the madrasa, he added.
