The Narcotics Control Bureau,Jammu and Kashmir,busted yet another inter-state racket of drug smugglers and arrested two in Jammu district on Wednesday.
A consignment of one-and-a-half kg of charas was recovered from their possession and a Santro car,in which the two men were travelling,was seized by the NCB team.
The arrested duo were identified as Parveen Kumar,53 years,a resident of Guru Gobind Nagar in Ludhiana,and Jeet Raj,36 years,a resident of Laswara village in Jammu district. While Parveen was running a garment shop in Laswara village,Jeet Raj owned a hotel in Bishnah area. The NCB sleuths arrested the duo after getting a tip off from the Military Intelligence about the movements of two narcotics smugglers.
Sources said that Parveen and Jeet arrived in Bishnah town from the Laswara village to hand over a charas consignment to another man who was to arrive from Punjab.
The NCB sleuths arrested Parveen Kumar and Jeet Raj on the spot while the third smuggler from Punjab did not arrive.
The two were taken to Jammu and are presently in the custody of the NCB,which is interrogating them regarding their operations,sources said. Both Parveen and Jeet have confessed their involvement in narcotics smuggling for the past several years,sources added.
Director,NCB J-K M K Sharma said that the narcotics consignment had been smuggled to Bishnah from Kashmir and was further to be smuggled to Punjab.
The NCB sleuths are tracking down the other smuggler who was to arrive from Punjab,he added.
Recently,two narcotics gangs were busted by the NCB,one in Samba and the other in Bari Brahmana.
