Infiltration bid foiled; three militants killed

Three heavily-armed militants were shot dead as the army foiled an infiltration bid from across the border in Gurez Sector of Bandipora district on Saturday.

Troops guarding the border noticed suspicious movement and as soon as the intruders sneaked into Gurez,140 kms from here,they confronted them and asked them to surrender but they opened fire,Defence Spokesman Colonel A S Brar said.

In the ensuing encounter,three heavily-armed militants were killed,he said.

The operation was going on when last reports came in.
